Field Labs
Social behavior is a multifaceted trait shaped by numerous intrinsic and extrinsic factors, as well as the environment in which individuals live and interact. Molecular analyses contribute a crucial puzzle piece to this complex picture, helping us unravel the interplay between underlying genotype, epigenetic modifications, environmental conditions, and their collective impact on behavioral phenotypes.
In our on-site field labs, we continuously strive to enhance non-invasive methods for studying target genes, (m)RNA expression, epigenetics, and paternity testing. We collect genetic material from saliva and fecal samples, thereby avoid isolating individuals from their social group or interfering with social behaviors under investigation.
